Kids Club/Summer School: River Falls School District

Have you ever had science that you can eat? I don’t know about you, but I love to eat! Really what’s better than science you can eat? That’s why we have decided to dive into edible science for kids this summer. Tasty or mostly tasty science activities to tickle your senses! $5 course fee for material costs.

Throughout this course, students will practice math through many different, fun and engaging games each day! Some days students will get to "make and take" the game(s) home with them for continued family fun! All math games will be aligned to the standards students have learned throughout the school year. Skills taught and reviewed will help students develop and maintain their math skills.

Have fun exploring our oceans to learn more about amazing underwater animals and fascinating plant life. $5 course fee for material costs.

Students will participate in ten days of hands-on experiments in this class. Students will learn about the scientific method and how to take lab notes. The students will perform experiments with different variables and see if the outcome changes. Be prepared for your scientist to continue experimenting at home after spending time in this class!

Come explore Wisconsin with us! In this class, we will learn how to identify some native Wisconsin trees, plants, and flowers. Students will learn to identify animals by their appearance, footprints, habitat, and scat (SCAT...WHAT IS THAT?). We will hike on school grounds, try to collect and identify little critters, look at many field journals, and maybe make a field journal of our own. If you love biology and have a love for the great state of Wisconsin...this is the class for you!

Students will be challenged to design and build objects using Legos, blocks and other building materials. This is a hands-on class. We will be making buildings, automobiles, etc. This is a great opportunity to introduce younger students to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) skills.

This class is open to students who like to think, plan, build, and imagine. This is a "hands-on" class. Students will solve problems and build solutions with the limited supplies that Jack has in his backpack. Students will have to use their imagination and work together to help Jack get out of situations.

In this Art class, students will be using materials from our earth to create designs. They will be challenged to create with a new medium many times. Traditional sketching daily and some painting of objects in nature will also take place.

Students will have fun playing with Legos as they use math, science, engineering to design, create and build many things. Students will be engaged with hands-on activities, learn cooperation when working with others, problem-solve, and discuss the how and why of their creation. Then they will be allowed to make modifications and try again.
